It is a common conceit to believe that this generation lives at a special point in history. It is easy to point at the arrogance and temporal parochialism of the idea - but in a way, its always true. Our world would be very different if previous generations had not fought various wars, championed social movements, and so forth. In my cases, especially in the last century or so, the stakes have been incredibly high and paths not taken could credibly have involved the enslavement or annihilation of the entire human race.

So it is not out of the question that we stand at another inflection point of history right now. What are the paths we might end up on?
