Bringing Starship to the UK
The UK lacks a launch capability at the moment. Rather than develop one, can we simply buy the best rocket in the world?
As other nations and private companies advance in leaps and bounds in space, it sometimes feels as if the United Kingdom is being left behind. There is little political will to do much about this in government, and I fear that by the time it becomes obvious even to MPs how much we are lagging other countries, it will be too late to act.
As such, I have started a petition to try and bring Starship launches to the UK.
If you want more detail on my reasoning, I have written this piece for the Boyd Institute. Please read, and then come back here to learn how best you can spread the message.
If you agree with my ideas, or even if you disagree but would still like to see this issue become more of a political priority, please consider signing the petition.
I would also ask that people share this in their social networks, and if possible outside their normal social networks. Our online experiences can be quite insular, if you share something with one person and they re-share it, a lot of the people who see it will be mutual with you and thus have already seen it. To break out of this, I have a simple tool - a poster:
The QR code leads back to this post. If you put up a poster in a university department or workplace where there are people who may be interesting in this sort of thing, people reading it are likely outside your immediate online network, allowing the message to jump to another part of the network and be shared there.
Adam Paigge has also kindly provided an alternate design for the poster, with the same QR code:
